It’s that time of year, Pirates! The deadline to register to be eligible to vote in the November 4th election is Monday, October 6th, so be sure to register ahead of the upcoming election!
All of the information you need to register, check your eligibility, and/or determine where to vote is on votetexas.gov.
According to the Texas Secretary of State’s website, you are eligible to vote if:
- You are a United States citizen
- You are a resident of the county where you submit the application
- You are at least 17 years and 10 months old on the date your voter registration application is submitted, and you are 18 years of age on Election Day
- You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole)
- You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
If you are not from the Georgetown area, specifically Williamson County, you need to either:
A) register to vote in Williamson County by October 6th, or
B) have a plan to travel to the county where you’re registered to vote, either during the Early Voting period or on November 4th.
If you are not registered to vote in Williamson County and would like to vote here for the November 7th election, you can go to the Williamson County Election Office and fill out a form from the office of Bridgette Escobedo, the Williamson County Elections Administrator.
If you are not registered to vote in Williamson County and would not like to vote here for the November 7th election, you can either apply to vote by mail (on paper or online) or make a plan to go back to the county in which you are registered during the Early Voting period or on November 4th.
If you are registered to vote in Williamson County, good news! You can vote on the Southwestern Campus at the Julie Puett Howry Center. Howry has been a polling location in the past, and will be a polling location again this year. It is located across the street from the Robertson Center (the Rob), and next to the tennis courts and the baseball field.
Although it is neither a presidential election nor a midterm, there are still important things on the ballot this year, as it is a joint general and special election. Specifically, the ballot will include votes for the constitutional amendments, city leadership, independent school district, and more. Sample ballots are available at wilcotx.gov. Additionally, SU votes is partnering with LWV Wilco next Friday, October 10th, in order to educate the SU community about what will be on November’s ballot.
Early voting will range from October 20th to October 31, 2025 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Locations for Early Voting within the boundaries of Williamson County include the Georgetown City Hall and the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning.
Polling places on Election Day will be open only on Tuesday, November 7th, 2025 between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Locations for voting on Election Day within the boundaries of Williamson County include SU’s own Howry Center, Carver Center for Families, Georgetown City Hall, Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning. All locations for voting on Election Day in Williamson County can be found on wilcotx.gov.
Reminder: You can only vote in the county you’re registered to vote in.
